The TCMA Management Messenger introduces and welcomes Vanessa Shrauner to her new position as the city manager of the City of Jarrell. Vanessa was appointed on April 1, 2019. Prior to her appointment, Vanessa served as the development services manager for the City of Odessa. She has also served as the assistant city administrator of the City of Sunset Valley and a management analyst for the City of Round Rock.
Vanessa received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and her masters from Texas State University.
Vanessa has two daughters, Sarah and Kylee. She spends most of her free time attending her children’s activities, but enjoys a good book during her down time.
The TCMA Management Messengers introduces and welcomes Courtney Sladek to her new position as the city manager for the City of El Campo. Courtney’s appointment began on May 1, 2019. Courtney has also served the City in the positions of deputy city manager and director of finance. Prior to joining the City of El Campo, Courtney served in the budget office for the City of College Station, the City of Friendswood, and the State of Texas.
Courtney received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and her master of business administration from The University of Texas at Tyler. Courtney is an International City/County Association (ICMA) Credentialed Manager candidate and is a Certified Government Finance Officer. She is a participant in the ICMA Emerging Leader Development Program Cohort 2019 and is serving on ICMA’s First Time Administrator Handbook Task Force. She also serves on the Government Finance Officer Association Treasury and Investment Management Committee.
Courtney and her husband Justin have been married for 13 years. They have one child, Tara. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time outdoors.
