The TCMA Management Messenger welcomes Eric Ellwanger to his new position as the city manager of the City of Allen. Eric’s appointment began on June 12. He previously served the City of Allen in the positions of assistant city manager and assistant to the city manager. He also served as interim city manager following the retirement of Peter H. Vargas. Prior to joining the City, Eric served as the strategic services manager for the City of Colleyville. He also served as a customer and utility services manager and budget analyst for the City of Plano.
Eric received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas.
Eric and his wife, Tara, have been married 18 years and have two daughters, Allison and Megan. In his free time, he enjoys watching Megan’s soccer games, Allison’s ballet performances, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
The Management Messenger congratulates Ryan Haverlah to his appointment as city manager of the City of Copperas Cove on June 25. Ryan began his career in municipal service in 1997 serving the City of San Angelo in the positions of grant administrator and budget manager. In 2011, he began serving the City of Copperas Cove and held the positions of budget director, assistant finance director, assistant to the city manager, deputy city manager, and interim city manager.
Ryan received his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Angelo State University in 2002, became a Certified Government Finance Officer in 2009, and graduated from Texas State University’s Certified Public Manager Program in 2016.
Ryan and his wife, Erica, have been married 11 years, and they are the proud parents of three young boys, Jedidiah, Matthias, and Titus. Ryan enjoys any activity involving his family including hiking, photography, and building Lego creations.
