ICMA Annual Conference: Special Hurricane Presentation, Texas Reception, and Recognitions

We hope you’re planning to attend the ICMA Annual Conference on October 22-25 in San Antonio. Be sure to support your colleagues during a special session on Tuesday, October 24, at 3:30 p.m. A session titled “Recovering and Rebuilding after a Major Disaster” will focus on hurricanes Harvey and Irma. This session will address engaging the community in rebuilding decisions, choosing the best housing strategies, and planning for greater resilience. A town hall format will showcase managers involved with current rebuilding efforts as well as managers who can share lessons learned from earlier disasters.

Plan to attend the Texas reception. The reception will be on Monday, October 23, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Tower of the Americas, located at 739 East Cesar Chavez. The reception will be on the observation level.

ICMA Recognitions

Congratulations to Alex Breseno for receiving the ICMA Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes a retired city manager who has made outstanding contributions to the management profession and local government.

Congratulations to Dr. Robert Bland for receiving the ICMA Honorary Membership. This award recognizes an individual outside of the local government management profession for distinguished public service and contributions the improvement and strengthening of local government.

Congratulations to Mike Eastland, executive director of the North Central Texas Council of Government, for 50 years of service to Texas communities.
