Meet Your Colleagues

The TCMA Management Messenger welcomes Cliff Keheley to his new position as the city manager of the City of Mesquite. Cliff’s appointment began October 1, 2015, following the retirement of Ted Barron. Cliff began his management career as an intern with the City of Mesquite in 1994. He has served the city in several positions including senior management analyst, director of housing and community services, director of parks and recreation, and assistant city manager.

Cliff has bachelor’s degree in political science from Hendrix College and a master’s of public administration from The University of Texas at Arlington.

Cliff and his wife Paulette have been married for 20 years and have three children, Madeline (15), Calvin (12), and Ella Grace (11). His hobbies include golf, hiking, and attending a variety of soccer, volleyball, football, basketball, dance, and choir activities.

Meet Colleagues Break

The TCMA Management Messenger introduces and welcomes David Vela to his new position as city manager of the City of Alice. David’s appointment began November 30, 2015. He started in the city management profession in 2003 as the assistant city manager for the City of Alice and served as deputy city manager for the City of Abilene from 2006-2015.

David has a bachelor’s degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in public administration from Texas State University.

David and his wife Karla have been married nearly 10 years and have two children, Alex (8), and Sophia (5). David serves as a Petty Officer Second Class in the Texas State Guard. His hobbies include hiking with his family, hunting, and shooting sports.
