Meet your Colleagues

The TCMA Management Messenger congratulates Jared Miller to his new position as city manager for the City of San Marcos. Jared joined the City of San Marcos on January 6, 2014. The San Marcos City Council unanimously approved his appointment following a nationwide search. He leads a team of 603 employees and administers a budget of $166.7 million. Prior to his appointment, he served six years as assistant city manager in the City of North Richland Hills, and city manager for the cities of Snyder and Crosbyton. Jared’s experience also includes serving as a regional services specialist, redistricting coordinator, and criminal justice coordinator for the South Plains Association of Governments, and as a budget analyst for the City of Lubbock.

Jared is a Reserve Naval Intelligence Officer. He has served on the Texas City Management Association Board of Directors, president of the West Texas City Management Association, is a member of the International City Management Association, and the American Society for Public Administration.

Jared, his wife Kristin and their two sons Garrett and Grant look forward to their new life in San Marcos where they will be deeply engaged in community, church, and school events and activities.

The TCMA Management Messenger welcomes Kyle McCain to his position as the city administrator for the City of Glen Rose.  Kyle’s appointment began December 2, 2014.  Prior to his appointment he served as city manager in ten small Texas cities, including Valley Mills, Overton, Lampasas, Henrietta, McGregor, Lake Kiowa (POA), Lake Dallas, Mexia, Overton, and Shavano Park.  His first municipal job was at age 12 at the city pool in his hometown of Gainesville where he earned 22 cents an hour. His career also includes ten years with FEMA disaster assistance, counter-terrorism, mitigation, and as a public information officer.

Kyle attended Texas A&M, West Texas A&M, US Naval academy, before earning his Bachelor’s at Baylor University and his MPA at University of North Texas.

Kyle met his Martha while on FEMA disaster duty in Arkansas; they have been married almost 16 years. They enjoy riding motorcycles throughout the Texas Hill Country, independent restaurants, and making friends.
